WINTER SLOWDOWN??

I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be super busy the next few days and may be difficult to reach.

I have seven Boudoir sessions scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday. Then I head to Mystic for a photography seminar/get-together with back-to-back presentations all day Monday. I'll try to check on emails and voicemails during breaks, but don't panic if I can't get back to you until Tuesday. :)

THAT'S THE SPIRIT!

I'm LOVING how this 2008 is starting out! with the spirt of giving...

Last year, when we first announced the Deserving Couple Free Wedding, I got an email from the super talented and GENEROUS Jessica of Jessica's Country Flowers, saying she would like to donate her services as well. This morning, after learning of the winner, she's offered to additionally donate hand-made invitations to the winning couple. How wonderful!

Here's a sample of one of her hand-made menu cards

Thanks Jessica for being so giving of your time and talent!

2008 DESERVING COUPLE SELECTED

We have selected the winners of our 2008 Deserving Couple Free Wedding. They have chosen not to be named publicly, but I can tell you that from all of the entries submitted, their's stood out in the department of "giving back". She volunteers with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and he mentors college students weekly. They are both dedicated to eachother and their families and what I liked most about their entry, was this quote from their letter:

"Family is really important to both of us, so the last thing we'd want to do would be to sacrifice our number of guests in order to be able to afford a great photographer. By being granted such a generous gift, we won’t have to sacrifice people we love; everyone will be there to experience our special day and we will have wonderful photographs to treasure."

Congratulations the both of you! I'm really looking forward to shooting your wedding.

For those of you who submitted your stories/photographs - thank you.
And remember...if you, or someone you know, is getting married in 2009 and you feel they are a "deserving couple" please send in a write up and recent photograph for consideration next year.

HAPPY 2008!

There are a lot of exciting things happening here at Troy Photography, and I just know 2008 is going to be a great (and busy :) year!

Some things in the works:

* We are updating the look of our website and blog, which should go online sometime in February. The site will still have all those familiar features that you've told me you love, but it will incorporate a few new things :)

* We are in the midst of renovations to our new studio! We leased the space back in October, and our builders have promised that we'll be in there by April 1st (just yesterday I realized that April 1st = April Fool's :) With the progress we've seen so far, I think we'll be happy with having it ready anytime this Spring/early Summer. We're very excited to have a cool new studio to meet prospective clients and showcase our work, as well as have an indoor space to do more studio portraits.

* We are expanding our photography coverage into Ireland, and beginning this year, we will be spending each August there doing weddings & portraits. We have some great things lined up and I can't wait to share with all of you here, how beautiful and "cool" Ireland really is (especially Dublin - my old stomping ground).

That's it for now. There are a couple more things, but I'll write more about those when they are firmed up.

Hope you all have a wonderful 2008!
